Champagne and Scents

An afternoon at the lovely Imo in Parnell with divine Raw Food, Champagne and the beautiful aroma, (and company), of Ashley and Co. A celebration of their reinvention – and just why did they need to reinvent this iconic NZ product I hear you ask.  They didn’t really, but I’m so glad they did. My go-to product for styling, and of course, gifting, has just got a little bit more beautiful and dare I say it, practical! And homeward bound with my

Perfectly Imperfect

Visitors to my little house tell me it all looks so perfect and yet within it lies a lot of imperfect stuff; and so really, what constitutes perfect? There is surely beauty in imperfection and is not perfection a bias to those who are judging it to be so? A perfect day for one may be that of brilliant sunshine whereas to another the rain on the roof may constitute perfect-ness. But to the world of interiors?  Well you can

All Black…

A few years ago we added a pergola to one of our decked areas.  The idea was to visually anchor the deck as previously I had always felt like I was sitting on a stage due to the expanse of lawn.  At the same time we added gardens to the left and right of the stairs and planted matching flowering Cherry trees in both to help provide some shade in the summer without losing light in the winter. The pergola is

Its a small world

Some of us aren’t blessed with a home with large bedrooms, in fact most of the homes I frequent have dedicated that extra space to living areas leaving the bedrooms a modest size quite adequate for what they intended… a bed. And so often here we are trying to cram all manner of equipment into them and wonder why our sleep is less than enjoyable. After being asked to help with this tweens room after she took it

Tie-Dye Reunion

In my early teens I got a bit carried away with tie-dying.  Almost every white item I owned got knotted up and went into a pot of purple dye – dare I say my favourite colour at the time, (I was also a wee bit in love with crochet shoes), but lets not talk about that; crochet rugs and blankets; YES, crochet shoes; NO! Well here I am, enamoured with a little wee bit of tie-dye again, perhaps

Be – Trayed

Tray NOUN a flat, shallow container with a raised rim, typically used for carrying food and drink, or for holding small items. Boring ADJECTIVE not interesting; tedious: Now lets take a tour of my little house and I can show you how to create something beautiful using that ‘uninteresting flat, shallow container with a raised rim’. My Occasional Table; Simple pickings from the garden contained in one of a grouping of vessels inside a round tray.  Tray from SE3 My Kitchen; fill a tray

Afternoon Delight

AFTERNOON DELIGHT Hands up if you’ve joined the hoards trying to give up sugar. Until now nothing seemed to really cut it. But I think I’ve found the answer… Chocolate Energy Balls. You know how one piece of chocolate is never enough? Well just one of these fills the gap in the afternoon, when that sugar craving is at its highest and it actually tastes like chocolate! A few minutes to make Afternoon tea at my little house –

Open Home

OPEN HOME!  Two little words that cause our adrenalin levels to rise and our hearts start to race! Not only are you having to deal with the emotional side of selling your home, you also have to deal with the reality of your home baring all for the potential new owners as well as some nosy neighbours.  My stress levels are rising just thinking about it!  So, need a hand?  Take a breath and follow these 8 easy steps. Sunshine and Shadows

What a beautiful Spring day.  We’ve uncovered the outdoor furniture and BBQ and actually lunched outside! So as I am enjoying the sun and soaking up its vitamin D and all the other goodness we need a little of every day I am pondering the not so good effects of that same sun shining in on my new sofa. And, as I, (dare I say it), pull the shades to protect my soft furnishings I am saddened as all
