There are a lot of garlands out there but these beautiful beads are a definite favourite at My Little House. Natural and painted beads threaded on leather or twine with loops for hanging. They are a fail safe option for a wee bit of fuss in an otherwise minimal space. Pretty Pink, Beautiful Black and Au Naturel are making a feature in My Little House. Hang them or let them sit on a surface. Order your custom beads here

Accents of Green

Green is a pretty great colour. Its cool, calm and very collected as far as colours go. If you are a little like me you like your home to be all those things. And so I bring you Accents of Green… I say YES! Read more about green here. x

Sunday Style

I love this look, a book shelf that’s not really a bookshelf. Some books are just too beautiful to hide. The shelves are just deep enough for some little trinkets to join your books. I purchased mine from Akia.  There is a smaller option if you have a tight space or want to mix up your sizes a bit. You can even paint them to match your wall colour.  Perfect! Of course you can use your picture ledges

Sunday Style

I love hooks! Not only are they useful but they are also decorative. Check out this style… A double hook whammy! Easy to achieve. Sometimes a little oddity makes a room unique. Give it a go! Get a couple of hooks for under $20 each from Design Beat

Come dine with me

COME DINE WITH ME How often do we all sit and eat at the table these days?   With the hours ‘he who likes to save money’ works we only manage it a few times a week so when we do I try and make it a little special. If you are struggling to round everyone up take a look at these images; perhaps a re-style of your dining space could be in order or just another 10 minutes

Shelfie

Never underestimate a shelf to add a 3D and useful vignette in your home. If you are like me you will love to arrange and rearrange your precious objects. Take a  look at these beautiful images from Pinterest. Shelves can be custom made or you can pick them up fairly cheaply at Bunnings or Mitre 10, fix them with these brackets for a scandi look.  The beautiful String Shelf is my favourite and a simple floating shelf can be found here. Under the Stairs

Ever wondered what to do with that space? It usually becomes a cupboard. At my little house its open with a sofa, sheepskin and clamp lamp for reading. Its actually a lovely little nook; safe, warm and inviting. But look at this amazing space… Drawers that are just Drawers and Drawers that are actually tables!   Mmmmm… new project for me and ‘he who likes to save money’? Clever Clever from Studio Koti by Susanna Vento.

Rug-Love

Come Summer and my little house is getting some wide-plank recycled TGV Flooring. Cant wait! And it means a little rug shopping is on the cards. I had thought to keep to more muted tones like the Armidillo and Co Twine Weave below but now I am leaning toward these more colourful and busy styles.  Don’t they just lift the room?! What do you think?

Layer me up

LAYER UP I know its getting cold when I leave the house in three or more layers and the same goes for my home.  Not being a lover of colourful rooms in my own home I turn to texture to create depth and warmth.  Texture gets your senses going! From cow hides, to sheepskins, to wool, to cotton, to rabbit skins to deer hides, to hemp to leather, from wood to concrete to marble and even paper, my little house has it all… layered
