RUG RULES Rugs and my little house have a love-hate relationship. There are certain rules around them and my home has certain quirks that make those rules impossible to apply. So while I am busy trying to convince clients to spend more to get the right size I have to hide the fact that at home my rugs, though beautiful, are not quite the right size. CHANGING IT UP Those who live in my little house know that when they leave home in the morning it is often different when they return that night. My husband used to struggle with it, now he barely bats an eye. SOFTEN IT UP Hard lines are beautiful. Monochrome is beautiful. Minimal is beautiful. But can we live in a minimal, monochromatic space with hard lines and not feel cold and uncomfortable? Some people can and often our personality type is tied to our interior or an interior we crave. Need I explain! TEA TIME I’m really more of a coffee girl but I needed to style a dining space recently, for which I needed a beautiful teapot. My online travels were a little fruitless and I ended up spying a T2 store (ironically opposite where I was purchasing my Coffee Capsules) but they didn’t blink an eye when I went in sporting my Nespresso carry bag. CANDLE-LIGHT At my little house we have quite a few power-cuts, the large trees combined with old-fashioned power lines mean when the wind starts to blow we start to plan. Seriously, the weekend we moved in we lost power for two days; not the best neighbourhood welcome! Anyway these power outages give me a very good excuse to buy very beautiful and of course very useful candle holders and ‘he who likes to save money’ can’t complain about Sweet like chocolate
SWEET LIKE CHOCOLATE There is nothing wrong with honey! I mean bees make the stuff for goodness sake. From the flowers to your table and nothing much in between. Chocolate, well there is quite a bit wrong with that, but not if you make it like this; 1/2 cup coconut oil 2 tbsp organic honey 1/4 cup cacao powder Melt everything gently in a saucepan whisking ingredients together.
