FRIDAY FINDS A purchase of potting mix at The Warehouse resulted in today’s find that I had to share with you. This plant stand is the perfect way to add height to this vignette without creating a heavy feeling. It was, in fact only $5.00, and all I did was add the pot and plant, which were already occupants of this old French Dropside table currently sitting in my entryway. Also new and worth a mention is the tiny Hygge NZ Style
HYGGE NZ STYLE Some of my earliest childhood memories invole the Danish art of Hygge. Pronounced Hoo-ga. Then, the way we lived our lives was all about Hyggeling, only we didn’t know it. Have we lost the art? Yes, I believe we have, but to know that you must first understand what Hygge is, and why we need it in our lives. William Morris; a Designer responsible for the Arts and Crafts Movement in the 19th century believed The Black and White Barn
THE BLACK AND WHITE BARN Come holiday time and my family despair of me. I am such a homebody. Why would I want to go away? I have everything I need right here at my little house! But when you get the opportunity to head less than an hour north and stay in a place that resembles your own, but better, how could you refuse? The Black and White Barn in Matakana is a monochrome lovers dream, the The Christmas Table
THE CHRISTMAS TABLE Thats it, 2016 Christmas Dinner done and dusted. The weather was less than perfect but in the end does it matter? A time for togetherness and belonging, family, food and fun. My son is off to Norway to study in a few days time and so my theme this year? Norwegian Peaks and Mountain Flowers (okay, I picked them on the roadside in my community but still…) The little mountain peaks are wooden Christmas Tree Decorations Styling 101 | The Shelfie
STYLING 101 | THE SHELFIE Even when I’m not working I am. I’m not very good at leaving things be, and so a shelf doesn’t seem to stay the same for more than a few weeks, neither do cushions, nor art. But then, with so many beautiful things passing through my home how can I not enjoy them, if only for a short time? This shelf was originally my sons book and toy shelf, its now home to Color of the Year 2017
PANTONE COLOR OF THE YEAR 2017 Annually, Pantone announces a colour of the year for the year to come. Why do they do this? The colours chosen usually represent a global need of the time. This colour is used throughout the world and dictates the trends you see in the stores from fashion to decor to flowers! 2017 is Pantone 15-0343 Greenery. A life affirming shade described as Natures Neutral. Chosen to reassure, revitalise and reconnect. This makes Styling 101 | Christmas
MY LITTLE MONOCHROME CHRISTMAS Despite the fact I have no littlies in the house I still feel the need to count down the sleeps to Christmas. I’m not sure why that is, perhaps habit. Advent calenders with a daily chocolate were such a treat as a child, but with two sisters it always seem an age to get to my turn! When my son was little we had all sorts of different ways of counting down, from the Styling 101 | The Bathroom
STYLING 101 | THE BATHROOM Bathrooms are expensive, they are also one of the hardest rooms to get right. That’s because the space is generally small and there needs to be alot in there for it to function as its purpose. A family bathroom is usually home to; a shower, a bath, a double vanity, a mirror, a toilet, a heated towel rail, tapware for the sinks, tapware for the bath, tapware for the shower, a toilet roll For your walls
FOR YOUR WALLS I am ever so lucky to have been asked by Mini Grandi Artist to style and photograph a new range of prints available exclusively via Paper Plane Store. These prints, four in total defy the usual monochromatic style that the lovely Sophie is well known for. In this instance the prints are a mix of her usual tonal black and grey with a hint of delicious blush, pink and rust and dusky blues with yellow.
