How to bring Nature Indoors

HOW TO BRING NATURE INDOORS

I recently wrote a blog for Flooring Xtra with tips on How to Create a Great First Impression.  The message I tried to bestow is that if you keep your home guest-worthy all the time you will be doing yourself and your family a huge favour too, and its not that hard; take a peek over here to see how.

One of the points I made was to bring a little nature indoors.  Flowers are not something that I buy on a regular basis, I have to fall in love with a bouquet to part with my precious dollars but with a simple snip of your scissors from your very own garden, you can turn ordinary into interesting for nothing more than a few minutes of your time.

This Ivy cutting simply hung over a hook in the monochrome entrance of my home adds a little life and irregularity to the walls.

create a wreath

This wreath was made with a wire circle and a cutting from a native tree, a little twist of wire or tape and voila!

Simply snipping a branch and hooking it over this piece of art adds some texture, and relaxes the formality of my living space.

The same branch in a simple glass decanter offers a romantic vibe when teamed with a touch of gold.

How to hygge

Some cuttings of Olive Branches tied with some twine and hung on the wall promotes a serene and calming mood.

A winter branch gives off a delicate vibe on my dining table.

Summer Entertaining

Winter greens mixed with a twisted branch provides a good base for this table setting.

And if you fancy a fun and sustainable piece of art simply tape a variety of leaves to a white wall. (Image source for this photo is unknown)
