Rug-Love

Come Summer and my little house is getting some wide-plank recycled TGV Flooring. Cant wait! And it means a little rug shopping is on the cards. I had thought to keep to more muted tones like the Armidillo and Co Twine Weave below but now I am leaning toward these more colourful and busy styles.  Don’t they just lift the room?! What do you think?

Sunday Style

Never underestimate the power of a bit of bling!  Not too much but a wee bit of brass or copper can add just the right amount of glam to a vignette. These gorgeous wee votives can easily be adapted to hold a miniature posy, or just a bit of greenery – I managed to conjure up these end-of-season roses and sprigs of green from my garden to pretty up the dining and coffee tables. Available in Brass or Copper

The Other Floor… part 2

So I’m not one that promotes painting over beautiful timber willy nilly but sometimes you just need a refresh; in our case the timber wasn’t exactly beautiful and we wanted a lighter and airy sense of space so away we went. Now its no easy task and not for the DIYers in you either, I mean we are talking some heavy duty sanding, priming and filling.  We didn’t want to see the knots and imperfections so we called in

These gorgeous pinterest pics may just sway you in the painted direction… Hope that helps, I just wish I had some brick to paint at my little house!

Layer me up

LAYER UP I know its getting cold when I leave the house in three or more layers and the same goes for my home.  Not being a lover of colourful rooms in my own home I turn to texture to create depth and warmth.  Texture gets your senses going! From cow hides, to sheepskins, to wool, to cotton, to rabbit skins to deer hides, to hemp to leather, from wood to concrete to marble and even paper, my little house has it all… layered

I love it when a package arrives… even if its not for me, I get to have a little play before it heads to its rightful home.  This cushion cover from Resident GP by the talented Ylva Skarp looks right at home on my sofa; aptly named ‘FREE”; (I guess it is… for today anyway); its all the way from Sweden, now take a look at it in my little old NZ living room…   Gorgeous huh… Pattern sometimes

Sunday Style

The design aesthetic in my own home is a little Nordic, a little Vintage and a little Industrial, hence these metal office trays have found their way into my living room and given me an excuse for a little Sunday Styling. The best thing about re-purposing items is that it will be unique to your home, and of course things don’t have to stay static; mix it up a little by changing around the items in the tray…

Create a Book Pile

“A house without books is like a room without windows…” This quote by Horace Mann is a quaint reminder of making your house your home, sure he was talking about education reform but his words work wonderfully in the world of interiors!  Whether floor to ceiling or just a small pile they work especially well in creating a vignette, they convey your interests and they give you something to do on those lazy Sunday afternoons. You don’t need to

Sunday Style

Its a little dull weather-wise here for Easter Sunday so some styling might be in order to brighten up my day; and a corner of my little house! This Mocka Jimmy Stand is a cheap and versatile little piece; use in an entrance, bedroom, or living space to create a simple but gorgeous vignette. No need to purchase anything special; your little house is bound to have all the items you need to transform the stand into something that is
