INTERIORS BLOGGER | DESIGNER | STYLIST

The grass is always greener…

Well I am not trying to encourage you to jump the fence but green is pretty cool right?!  I can remember my Grandmother, (who was pretty stylish I have to say), touting “blue and green must not be seen” she never quite finished that statement, as it ends with “unless there’s something in between”.  So can you mix blue and green up in your interior?  Hell yes! Let me show you how… I swear I never tire of looking

Sleepyhead

Have you ever slept in linen?  Seriously you have to try it.  You will have the best nights sleep ever!  Light, soft and airy, linen is what nature intended we all sleep in.  But there is a catch… Linen bedding is expensive which makes it not conducive to keeping ‘he who likes to save money’ happy; in fact linen bedding is the type of expense that sends ‘he who likes to save money’ into a spin.  However ‘he

Hook me up

So we all desire a Muuto Dot hook right?  What’s not to want?  Right up there with the big boys its a super popular choice for adding a little texture and glamour to your walls.  Right up there in price too: so I’ve found you a little cheat, okay so its not as glam but it does look really funky and there is way more to this little hook than a jacket or umbrella.  Take a little look

Vintage Love on the Block

When you love a certain style sometimes you get a little carried away with trying to duplicate it and while this may be all well and good sometimes it leaves your home feeling like a just a house and not only that it will be house that doesn’t necessarily stand the test of time. Everyone appears to be following the Block NZ with great vigour at the moment with Alex and Corban seeming to lead the way, however

I’m blue da-ba-dee…

The Blue song by Eiffel certainly  sums up this blog… Blue is the most popular colour in the world!  Why?  It’s gender neutral, invokes feelings of peace and tranquillity.  People who love blue are genuine and sincere, sentimental and even tempered.  Blue lovers will usually have a house full of treasures from the past.  The perfect collectors! Blue is fresh, natural and relaxed; I guess that’s why we all love our denim jeans right?  All this aside you don’t

Lounging around

Truth be told I am just a little nosey… I love to go a-wandering around open homes, but these days the web often wins out especially when the open homes tend to be on the other side of the world! Here are a few beautiful living rooms to nose around.  I’ve added in some tips and tricks to help you on your way, which one will be your inspiration? Decide whether you want an accent colour or a bold striking room

Marble Junkie

I am becoming a marble junkie.  Please gorgeous on-line shops stop putting such  beautifulness at my fingertips! Oh but the real thing is real expensive and real heavy so here is a little designer secret for you… Marble laminate!  Kitchen guru Kim from Kim and Franks cabinets in Albany had a gorgeous sample when I last popped in; apparently the image is taken of a piece of marble to create the laminate sheeting with no obvious join or repeats and

A little piece of Pare-dise

Have you been to Sanders Reserve in Paremoremo?  If not you should take a look; its known locally as Pare-dise and looking below you will see why.  The reserve opened in 2011 but is still fairly unknown; it opens to the Paremoremo Creek and includes walking, mountain bike and equestrian tracks, an off-leash dog exercise area and open space for picnics with a gated childrens playground.  There is water access for kayaking and the views are incredible.  High on the hill

Black and White and what lies in between

So excited that my new art arrived back from framing this week to complete my monochrome art wall in my open plan living area; its a difficult space as the ceiling here is fairly low though opens up to the double height pitched roof to the left.  We used to have a television mounted on this wall hence the plug but since the addition of a formal lounge I don’t feel the need for one here, however the

Mellow Yellow

Okay so I’m not a lover of yellow, except for a bowl of cheery lemons making its way from my tree to my scullery in the winter there is little yellow going on in My Little House!  I always think of Yellow as a summer colour but in essence why do you need yellow in the summer?  The sun is shining-a-plenty over the December to March period and adding more yellow is somewhat counter productive but in Winter… well a
